These ‘paintings’ are easily achievable using fusible webbing and soft-edged applique. You get the stained-glass effect (black brush-stroke edges) without using bias strips.

- a fat quarter (20x20 minimum) of five layers
- black fabric
- background fabric (dyed or similar) and scraps (minimum size 10x10 inches) for figures and flowers etc.
- fusible webbing
- light batting such as pellon.
